We build any and all types of wood fences. There are a number of decisions the homeowner needs to make before the fence project can begin.

Some of these include the following options:

Type of lumber to use:

• Spruce/Whitewood
• Cedar choices
• Western Red Cedar: the best and most attractive option
• Chinese and Incense Cedar: they are less expensive alternatives

Fence height:

• 6 or 8 feet in typically allowed by most cities and HOA’s. You should check with your HOA for specific guidelines as some do not allow 8 foot fences.
• Shorter fences can also be built. Typically used for hiding electrical boxes, pool equipment or to separate a yard for dogs.

Fence configuration options include:

• 3 1/2, 4, 5 1/2 and 6 inch picket width
• Side by side
• Board on Board
• Shadow box
• Old fashioned picket style

Type of post to use:

• Steel- generally available in .095”/13 gauge or .086”/16gauge wall thickness
• Wood 4x4
• Landscape timber

Staining the fence:

Stained fences will look better and last longer than an un-stained fence.  They should be re-stained every 4-5 years to maintain to desired look although several factors can influence the length of time between staining.  Stain is available in a variety of colors to suit your eye and pre-staining the fence prior to installation is, in our opinion, the best way to go and is the method we prefer.
